Starfish supporters will gather for an inspiring evening to celebrate the opening of the Starfish Impact School in January 2017. The event will feature live music, dinner, dancing, and firsthand stories of impact from Guatemala. It will be held at the Space Gallery in the Santa Fe Arts District (400 Santa Fe Drive, Denver, CO 80204).
Experience the powerful work that occurs on the ground with Starfish while also seeing Guatemala’s very unique take on Day of the Dead. The trip starts with a trip to historical Antigua, including a visit to the famous kite festival of Sumpango. We then head to Lake Atitlán and get a ground-level look at the “Girl Effect” in action in the Starfish program. The trip culminates with Starfish’s graduation celebration for dozens of Girl Pioneers who become the first in their families to graduate from high school. Trip cost is $900 (does not include airfare) and a $1000 investment in Starfish’s work (many use crowd-funding to cover this).
Meet Starfish students, visit their homes, learn how women’s empowerment changes lives, and then challenge yourself to climb San Pedro volcano to honor and support the incredible young women of Starfish, who are summiting mountains of their own. The trip includes several nights in both Antigua and on Lake Atitlán, and is built around fostering connections between visitors and the courageous Girl Pioneers and their families. Trip cost is $1,400 + flight. We also request a $1,000 investment in the Starfish program (which many people cover with crowdfunding/fundraising).
